ABOUT

THE URBEX CAFE

Hi, my name's Erika, I was born in Sicily and in 2022 I created The Urbex Cafe.
The Urbex Cafe was born from an individual idea, developed thanks to the need to bring narrative and historical content to the web for all Urbex enthusiasts. Urbex is a contemporary phenomenon that has been attracting more and more people in recent years. In fact, many of them have turned their passion for exploration into a real job, bringing content depicting their various explorations in different abandoned places throughout Italy and abroad. My passion stems from an attraction that manifested itself years ago towards places rich in mystery and abandonment, but until a few years ago, I simply admired them from the outside or satisfied my curiosity by watching videos online. Then it happened: I overcame my fear and began, whenever possible, to explore various abandoned buildings from the inside. I soon realized that these places still had a lot to tell and offer visitors like me, stories and past lives that I wanted to discover. Stories of everyday life, of turbulent pasts, stories of lives lived, anonymous and never leaked outside those walls. And that's when the idea of bringing all these stories together on a single website was born. Abandoned hospitals, villas, castles, and forgotten homes are the focus of The Urbex Cafe, along with the aura of mystery and legends that now surround thousands of these wonderful structures, now overgrown by nature.

I discovered The Urbex Café almost by accident, and since then it has become one of my favorite places online. I often find myself reading stories about these places with goosebumps, imagining who lived there, what happened to them, why it was abandoned. It's not the usual urbex site made up of spectacular images: here there is heart, there is respect for the places and their memorials. It's as if each report takes you by the hand and really brings you inside, among the dust and memories. If you love abandonment for what it tells you, not just for how it is, here you will find a whole world that speaks to you.
